The Cloud Video add-on package allows you to streamline your video production in Creative Force. From Capture to QC to Asset Delivery, and with a dedicated retouching app, Luma, you can trust your videos receive the same care as your image productions.

➕ Add-On: Video is part of an add-on package for Creative Force. If you are interested in using it in your studio, please reach out to your CSM for details.

Getting Started

Video Production Types

Once you have your video extension add-on activated, you can go to your Studio Settings to create your own Video Production Type.

🗣️ Tip: The Production Type name can not just be Video, as it will conflict with the Production Type Category also called Video. You will need an additional descriptor word, such as Model Video, as an example.

For more information on creating custom Production Types, please see our dedicated article on the subject by following the link below.

Video Workflow

After creating your desired Video Production Types, head into your Workflow and select 'Add Workflow.' In the pop-up menu, select 'Video' as the Workflow Type.

When selecting Video as the Workflow Type, you can accommodate both photography and video production types in the same Workflow.

⚠️ Important: For Video Workflows, you can only select an FTP vendor to be your external-post vendor.

Configure your Workflow as desired, and save the Workflow before moving on to the next setup step.

Video Presets

Presets are a way of defining the output requirements for an image after post-production. To create a new preset for Videos, navigate to the Studio Settings → then select 'Presets' → and Add in the top right corner of the page.

After filling out the initial configuration options and selecting Add, you will be brought to a new menu where you can define metadata rules, preset names, specifications, and variants.

🗣️ Tip: When defining specifications for your video assets, you should be aware of the supported technical specifications for videos found here.

For additional general information on Presets, please see our dedicated article on the subject by following the link below.

Style Guides

Head into the desired Style Guide, or create a new Style Guide from the menu. Once inside the Style Guide, select your Video Production Type from the list to enable it.

Once enabled, click into the tab for the Production Type and assign your Video Workflow. Then, proceed to fill out any additional required tabs and settings– including assigning your newly configured Presets to specific positions.

Workflow Steps

When moving through Creative Force, your video assets will follow the same patterns and have all the normal features associated with image-type assets. In the following sections, we will briefly cover any notable differences.

Capture

The Video extension allows photographers to capture and assign video assets via Kelvin just the same as with image assets. For a tour of videos in Kelvin, please see our dedicated Kelvin article for Cloud Video by following the link below.

Final Selection

Much like Final Selection for images, you will have the ability to view the videos, mark for instructions, approve/ reject, and upload files.

To play a video directly in Gamma, select it and hit space. You can also hit ‘Esc’ to close the video playback.

Mark for Instruction

When rejecting or marking a video for instruction, you will be brought to the markup screen. You can select the playback speed, enable repetition, select the time format, and select the video resolution.

Whenever you click on the instruction section, the video will stop accordingly. You won’t have to fast-forward or rewind to find the exact moment you want to note down.

Hit Ctrl/ Cmd + Enter to save your notes. On the timeline bar, you can see where you or others left the notes.

You can navigate between comments by clicking on the timeline markers. And, by clicking on a comment, the player will also jump to the frame in the video that the comment was made on.

Internal Post

Unlike with Image-type assets, which utilize our Hue App, Internal Post with video-type assets are sent to retouchers via our Luma app. Luma integrates directly with Adobe Premiere Pro and offers many of the same functionalities as Hue.

For more information for retouchers looking to get familiar with the Luma application, see our dedicated Luma articles at the links below.

External Post

As mentioned in the Workflow section of the article, the External Post step for video-type productions is handled via our FTP connection.

For an overview of how Creative Force handles video files during external post-production when utilizing an FTP server, please see our dedicated article below.

QC & Post Review

Post QC and Review steps for video can be found under the same navigation menus as for image-type assets.

When viewing a Task Kanban, tasks that have the time tag will indicate that these tasks are related to video files rather than image-type asset tasks.

Within the task view, you can watch the pre- and post- edited videos side by side by clicking on History.

From here, you will have the option to Linked Playback, which means that the videos are played at the same time, so you can check the difference side by side.

Gamma Features

Video Player

In Gamma, you will have different places where you can play the video: in the product slide-in and in the asset view. The player will have the same functionalities as the player you have in Kelvin.

Assets Tab

In the Assets tab, a duration tag on the thumbnail signifies when an asset is a video. Double-click on the video to open the player.

To filter specifcially for video assets, head to the Filters icon → Media Type → Video
