Resource Files Overview

How to send and work with Resource Files in Creative Force.

Written by Bri H.

Resource files are files sent to Post-production teams to aid in retouching, but are not required to be returned to Creative Force. They can be used to create composite images, for stacking, or just as general support files for the retouching teams.

Setting Resource Files

Unlike something like color references or reference images, resource files can not be automatically assigned to a task– instead, they must be intentionally set during the Workflow process leading up to retouching. Resource FIles can be associated with a task at a few specific steps, outlined in the sections below.

Kelvin

In Kelvin, simply drag and drop your resource file to the position it will be used to support. Next, right-click the resource image and select ‘Covert to Resource’:

This action is confirmed by a small ‘R’ icon in the lower right corner of the image:

Final Selection

You have the option to convert transferred assets to resource files if Final Selection is taking place in Gamma rather than Kelvin. Simply right-click the image you’d like to send as a resource file and select ‘Convert to Resource’

You’ll see the same small ‘R’ icon appear in the lower right corner of the image once the conversion is complete.

Link Resources

After pressing ‘Continue’, if you are transferring more than two images per position, the system will prompt you to link the Resource file with the image it is intended to be used for. The screen may appear slightly different depending on where you are attaching the images.

Gamma Mapping

Kelvin Mapping

Once you have mapped the resource files to their intended asset, you can hit Continue to have them associated and ready for your retouchers.

Notes

  • Resource files are named in the order from left to right.

  • The maximum number of resource files per position is 20 files.

  • In Hybrid Workflows containing both Internal and External post-production steps, resource files will only be sent to the first post-production step.

In Internal Post

When resource files have been attached to a task and sent to internal post-production, they will become available for retouchers directly in their Hue Task Panel.

In External Post

When resource files have been attached to a task and sent to internal post-production via the FTP method, they will be sent along with the files to be retouched, but will be excluded from the expected return file manifest.
