How to Add Images to an Editorial Project

There are two methods for uploading images to your editorial project

  1. Direct Upload in Gamma

  2. Upload through Kelvin

This article will walk you through the steps for both methods, but first, we need to navigate to our assets tab in our project.

Navigate to Images

There are two ways to navigate to your project images. The first can be found by navigating to your project, then to the Images tab under the Components dropdown menu.

The second is by scrolling down on the Project Overview panel to the Components section and selecting the Images box.

Upload Images via Direct Upload in Gamma

Direct upload is great for those situations where your team has returned from a shoot with all of the images for a project backed up on a device like an external hard drive. To upload your images, simply navigate to the blue “Add” button and select “Upload Images” from the dropdown menu.

From here, you’ll have the option to drag and drop your images into your project or browse folders on your computer or device. The following file types are supported: JPG, PNG, PSD, TIF, CR2, CR3, CRW, NEF, NRW, EPS, PDF. Please note that when adding images via direct upload, they will need to be assigned to a deliverable. For more information check out our article Working with Images in Editorial.

Upload Images in Kelvin: Project Sheets

Your photographer also has the option to upload images directly in Kelvin. In order to do this, you must first provide your photographer with a project sheet. A project sheet contains barcodes for each deliverable that can then be scanned into Kelvin. This allows the photographer and Team on Set to shoot, drag, drop and transfer images for each deliverable separately, aiding in an efficient and organized on set production process.

To print your project sheet, navigate to the blue “Add” button, then select “Upload via Kelvin” from the dropdown menu. Select “Print Project Sheet” from the pop-up window.

From here, you’ll be able to view and print your project sheet.

Once in Kelvin, your photographer has two options:

  1. Scan the Project barcode to upload a batch of images to the project. The images will then need to be assigned to deliverables in Gamma.

  2. Scan deliverable barcodes to upload and assign images with a single action, one deliverable at a time.

Once transferred, the images will appear in your project images and if uploaded directly to a deliverable, they’ll already be assigned.
