Generative Style Guide Settings

How to set up and use Generative Settings in your Style Guides.

Generative Productions allow more dynamic processing of assets– especially for use cases involving Generative AI, where assets require flexible inputs and outputs. When combined with Cloud Automation in your Workflows, Generative Style Guide Settings allow you to fine-tune and perfect how assets flow to and from your AI tool of choice.

➕ Cloud Automation: Generative Settings are designed to complement Cloud Automation, which requires the Workflow & Style Guide V2 Engine. If you are interested in using them in your studio, reach out to your CSM to chat.

Getting Started

This article assumes you have already enabled a Cloud Automation connector that provides AI Native Features like Image to Video or Virtual On Model. To learn more about available connectors and their applicable subfunctions, see our article here.

Requirements

For some of the features in this article to become available, various requirements need to be met. These requirements will be called out visually in the article where applicable.

Wherever these icons appear, you can click them to be taken to their entry and explanation in the reference table below.

Requirement

Description

Production Type = Generative

The Production Type must have the Production Type Category set to Generative.

Workflow Type = Generative

The associated Workflow Type must be set to Generative.

Capture → Cloud Automation

In the related Workflow, Cloud Automation must be set as the step immediately after Capture.

Final Selection Upload Experience

In the related Workflow, the Final Selection settings must be set to: Cloud Automation: Preselection by Position OR Executed by Kelvin.

Generative Style Guides

Head to Production → Style Guides along the navigation bar in Creative Force. Here, you can either opt to create a new Style Guide or edit an existing one. Once you have entered the Style Guide, look for your Generative Production Type in the list and select to enable it.

With the Production Type enabled, select the tab for it along the top, and then assign your saved Generative Workflow.

Position Media Types

Within the Capture Tab, you will be able to create the necessary Photography Positions and then define the Media Type for each.

Requirements

When the production progresses through the Workflow, for any steps where multiple media types are grouped together, users will only be able to associate files of the specified Media Type for each respective Photography Position.

📝 Note: Color matching in the Style Guide for Generative Workflows checks the position's Media Type. Photo positions are eligible for color matching, and video positions follow existing logic.

Stop-at-Trigger Step

Stop-at Trigger Step lets you mark a position as input for an AI production type only. Once the image is captured and sent to the AI workflow, it will stop at the trigger step instead of continuing through the remaining post-production or QC steps. This helps prevent teams from receiving work that is not intended to be retouched or delivered.

Toggle

Function

Assets in this position run through the whole workflow, including delivery.

Assets in this position run as normal up to the first step where a trigger hands it to another Production Type, then stops. Assets stop after the first trigger and later triggers do not fire.

⚠️ "No Trigger Set for this Position" Warning: This message is shown when no trigger currently passes this position through to another production type. Either no trigger is configured on the target, or the trigger exists, but the position is not currently mapped in the pass-through mapping.

The setting still saves and stays on– It just has nothing to act on yet, so the shot runs the whole workflow and is delivered. The warning disappears as soon as a trigger passes the position through.

Practical Example

Position

Position Type

Goal

Position 1

Ghost Mannequin

Needs post-production and delivery to the final location

Position 2 - Front

Normal

Needs an AI step only

Position 3 - Back

Normal

Needs an AI step only

Then, when you have a Source workflow with Capture → Final Selection → Internal Post → Asset Delivery and the trigger fires when Final Selection is done, two steps sit after it. Here's what Stop-at Trigger Step does.

Position

Stop-at Trigger

Taken by the trigger

Results

Position 1

Off

Yes

Runs the whole workflow and is delivered

Position 2 - Front

On

Yes

Stops after Final Selection. No Internal Post, no delivery

Position 3 - Back

On

No, not in the mapping

Runs the whole workflow and is delivered

AI Source Tags

When working with Generative Productions, Source Tags allow you to explicitly map source positions to target positions when sending assets to Cloud Automation. This way, assets always arrive in the correct positions when AI receives the input.

Requirements

Source Tags can be configured for Custom Cloud Automation Connectors.

External Post

When adjusting the External Post tab of the Style Guide, you will see a warning for positions where the media type is not relevant to the post-production selected.

Different Input vs Output

When working with Generative AI in your Workflow, there may sometimes be scenarios where the photography positions need to change between Capture and the AI processing done at the Cloud Automation step. This is made possible via the 'Different Input vs Output' toggle.

Requirements

Enable Toggle

When the toggle is enabled, an additional tab for photography positions becomes available. Navigate between Capture and Final Selection, and create each position list independently.

Position File Names

Because the Final Selection positions will be the end result, naming is handled via the Presets and Naming tab. For the new Capture positions, a dedicated File Name field will become available directly in the tab:

Practical Example

In the above example, the toggle is enabled, and the following configuration is set.

Then, as the Production flows through the Workflow, we get the following scenario.

Workflow Step

What Happens

Capture

At Capture, the photographer uploads one to two photos of each of the garment's front, back, and a detail shot.

Cloud Automation

At Cloud Automation, the 3-6 capture assets are sent as input to the AI service, and a single video output is returned.

Generative Pass Through

In cases where your studio is already producing assets that can be used as AI Input on another Production Type, you can use the Production Trigger & Pass Through options to send those assets from the source production directly through to Cloud Automation for your Generative Production. This allows you to skip capture entirely.

Practical Example

In the above example, the Different Input/Output toggle is enabled, and the following configurations are set for the Flats and AI On Model Production Types, respectively.

Then, as the Production flows through the Workflow, we get the following scenario.

What Happens

Capture

At Capture, the photographer uploads one to two photos of each of the garment's front, back, and a detail shot.

Final Selection

Final Production is completed, then the Flats Production moves forward through its Workflow as normal.

AI Workflow Step

What Happens

Capture

As Flats Final Selection is completed, the AI On Model Production is triggered, and auto-completes Capture using the assets from Flats.

Cloud Automation

At Cloud Automation, the flats capture assets are sent as input to the AI service, and a single video output is returned.
