Hue for Editorial

How to use Hue for internal post-production in the Editorial Module.

Written by Bri H.

Hue is Creative Force's trusted tool for assisting retouchers with completing asset edits, composite images, and variants for different file requirements. In this article, we will cover how to use Hue to facilitate that retouching process specifcially for Editorial Deliverables and Projects.

Internal Post Kanban

Deliverables with assets that have made it to the Internal Post Step of an Editorial Workflow will be available to be assigned to a retoucher in the To-Do column of the Internal Post Kanban in Gamma.

Additionally, available, assigned, and completed tasks will be visible in the Hue app.

You also have the option of applying filters to show only tasks associated with the selected data.

Resource Files

Once a task has been opened in Photoshop, you will see the Hue panel open from the right-side toolbar. A few of the helpful resources available to retouchers in the Hue panel are the creative brief, mood board, and any mock-ups that have been created for the project.

This can help communicate to retouchers details about the vision for the final images, provide a visual aid if composite images are required, and help ensure retouchers are up to speed on the Art Direction for the shoot. Furthermore, retouchers are able to view any comments and instructions left by the team in the mock-ups.

Compositing

Compositing allows a composite image to be created using elements of two or more separate images. At what step Compositing takes place is set at the Workflow level.

For more information on Compositing setup within Gamma, please see our dedicated article on the subject at the link below.

Upon opening the task from Hue, if the main has not already been set in Gamma, you will have the option to select the main file that will act as the base.

If the main file was already selected in Gamma prior to opening the task in Hue, it will be marked as such when navigating between assets in the Task Panel.

When toggling between your main image and your secondary input files, you will be automatically restricted from making edits to additional input files, helping to avoid possible confusion during the composite process.
