Effective asset naming is essential for managing your assets seamlessly, and Creative Force makes this easier through customizable naming rules in Style Guides.
Leverage the power of property data and system-defined merge fields to automate naming conventions. Creative Force offers flexible tools to match your specific needs, including sequential numbering for assets:
Sequence Number/Letter
Position Sequence Number/Letter
Production Type Sequence Number/Letter
Note:
Sequence letters function just like sequence numbers but follow the English alphabet (A → B → C).
With these tools, your asset naming process can become consistent, automated, and tailored to your studio's workflow.
Note:
Let’s break down asset naming with a practical example using the Sequence Number style guide. This guide is set up with:
2 Production Types: On Model and Flats
2 Positions per Type: Front and Back
1–2 Images per Position
Sequence number
Here’s how the Sequence Number works:
Start with the production type that’s produced first.
Move through the positions in order.
Count the images within each position sequentially.
Continue to the next production type, following the same rules.
Example Setup:
My naming recipe is: Product code_Sequence number [0]
.
Naming in Action:
If On Model is produced first and its Front position includes 2 images, the sequence will proceed as follows:
Start with On Model → Front → Images within Front, in order.
Below are the asset names according to the set up above.

Note:
When a product includes two production types and both are delivered to Asset Delivery, resetting one of them to Final Selection or Photo Review impacts the sequence numbering. In this scenario, the sequence number continues counting from the last image of the existing production type
For example, if On Model is reset, the sequence numbering will pick up from the final image of the Flats production type.
Position sequence number
In this setup, the numbering resets with each new position. It only counts up within the current position.
Example Setup:
If your naming recipe is: Product code_Position Sequence number [0]
, the numbering will restart when moving to the next position.
This approach keeps your asset names clear and tied directly to their specific positions in the workflow.
Below are the asset names according to the set up above.

Production type sequence number
In this setup, numbering counts up only within the current production type and resets when moving to the next production type.
Example Setup:
If your naming recipe is: Product code_Production type Sequence Number [0]
, the sequence restarts for each new production type.
Below are the asset names according to the setup above.

Note:
You can start the sequence from any number by adjusting the bracket value in the first sequence token.
Example:
Sequence number [0]
→Sequence number [2]
starts numbering at "2" (single digit).Example:
Sequence number [0]
→Sequence number [01]
starts numbering at "01" (two digits).CF supports up to 10 digits for the sequence number.
If you start your Sequence Number from [2]
, here’s how your asset names would appear under this setup.
