The Flow Tab in Chroma brings the configurable, multi-step scanning flows that already exist in Gamma to the Chroma mobile app– allowing users to execute actions such as updating properties, reviewing data, changing locations, adding samples to containers, and much more.
Feature Overview
The Flow Tab in Chroma enables high-volume single-pass scanning with complex sample management workflows via Scan Flows. Scan Flows can consist of multiple actions that are executed in quick succession for every sample scanned.
In the Chroma app, the available Scan Flows are reflected directly from the available Scan Flows that have already been configured in Gamma. To learn more about creating Scan Flows, please see our dedicated article on the subject here.
Getting Started
To get started, log in to the Chroma app and select the Flow tab along the bottom navigation bar. The screen will default to your camera and present a flow menu.
To expand the Flow menu, drag the top edge of the menu upwards or hit the toggle arrow on the right-hand side. This will allow you to more easily navigate the available settings in the menu.
At the top of the menu under FLOW, the name of the currently selected flow will be listed. Beneath it, the menu will be subdivided into three separate tabs.
Menu Tab | Function |
Actions | Change the currently selected Flow to another. |
Samples | View a list of the samples scanned in this session. |
Settings | View the individual action components that make up the currently selected Flow, and configure their settings. |
Change Flow
In the Actions tab, you will have the option to change the currently selected flow. To do so, select 'Change Flow' and a slide-out menu will appear.
The available flows in the list are directly imported from what has been created and saved in Gamma, the web app.
Settings
To see the individually configured steps of a selected Scan Flow– and to reconfigure settings related to them, select the 'Settings' tab along the top.
This screen will show you each of the individual actions that make up the selected flow, and for actions that have additional configuration options, you will be able to configure them uniquely for your scan session.
Samples
In the Samples tab, you will be able to browse and review a list of all the scanned samples you have processed in the current session.
Scan Mode
When entering into a scan, you will see an option to toggle between scan modes along the top of your camera view. There are two available scan modes to choose from.
Scan Mode | Function |
Standard | Each scanned sample will run its flow at the moment it's scanned. |
Fast | Scan multiple labels, and then process them in bulk at the end. |
Fast Mode
In Fast Mode, you are able to scan a consecutive chain of labels and then hit 'Start Flow' to trigger them in batches:
Standard Mode
In Standard Mode, you scan each label, which in turn immediately triggers the actions in the Flow for that item and returns you to the scan screen to process another.
Flow Actions
The following table contains actions that can be executed as part of a configured flow. For a more detailed walkthrough of the different types of actions that can be added to a scan flow, please see our dedicated article on the subject here.
