July 14th - Sprint 206 Release Notes

Sprint 206: Rebranding “Product” to “Product Request” and exciting MCP updates.

Written by Heather Camp Lopes

Happy Sprint Release Day! 🚀 We’ve packed this sprint with enhancements designed to improve your team’s productivity. This release renames "Product" to "Product Request" and adds new MCP read tools for AI assistants. We’re always eager to hear your thoughts, so don’t hesitate to share your feedback.

“Product” Renamed To "Product Request"

We've updated the terminology across the platform, renaming "Product" to "Product Request" wherever it describes a production request. You'll now see consistent wording across every app, making it easier to tell at a glance whether you're looking at a product request or a product record, a new level of product data introduced in Product Hub.

The update affects wording only, so there's no change to how your workflows or integrations behave.

MCP Updates

Four new read tools have been added to MCP, expanding the range of production data available to AI assistants. You can now query the production Event Log for a full audit trail of actions and changes, read Studio Production Setup configurations, and retrieve Style Guides, all through the MCP integration.

In case you missed the MCP webinar on June 30th, a recording is available to help you get started with the integration.

Event History Now Available In Your AI Assistant

The event history for Products, Samples, Workflows, Style Guides, Editorial Projects, and Editorial Deliverables is now queryable through your AI assistant. Ask what happened to a specific item, who acted on it, and when, and get back a timestamped, actor-attributed timeline scoped to your existing permissions.

Filters for date range, user, and event name give you precise control over results, making compliance reviews, client disputes, and production investigations faster to resolve.

Your AI Knows Your Production Setup

Reading your studio's Production Setup is now possible through AI tools and integrations, without navigating Studio Settings directly. Nine categories are queryable: Production Types, Locations, Containers, Presets, Data Sources, Team On Set Skills, Post-Production Vendors, Product Vendors, and Print Configurations. Each category contains filters for keyword, status, type, and location.

This makes it straightforward to confirm active configurations before a shoot, review a studio's setup remotely, or brief new team members on available resources. Results are always live, and access is strictly read-only.

AI-Accessible Style Guides And Their Basic Information

Style Guides are now accessible through MCP. You can list all available Style Guides, optionally filtered by name or product type, and retrieve the full detail of any individual Style Guide, including its rules and asset metadata. This makes it straightforward to find the right guide for a given production.

Operators and producers can check production standards directly within their Workflows, without switching tools.

AI Understands Your Workflows Too

You can now look up Workflows directly, listing all available ones or filtering by name or status, and opening any Workflow to see its full structure: its ordered steps, the transitions between them, and its configuration.

This makes it straightforward to check how work is set up without leaving the task at hand. Looking up Workflows is entirely read-only, so nothing is created, changed, or removed in the process.

Dreem

In Dreem, we released Aesthetics for Virtual Model and improvements to both the Dreem MCP server and Virtual Models.
