At Creative Force, we know image requirements vary by product. That's where conditional rules come into play! Conditional rules help you toggle production types, positions, or variants based on specific product data. Here's how to make it work!

To set conditional rules, go to ‘Style Guides V2’ under the Production tab, then 'Edit' next to the relevant style guide.

Where to find conditional rules set up

Production Type level

Click the "three cubes" icon next to the production type.

Position level

Under the Capture tab of the production type. Click the ‘three-cube’ icon or click the settings icon and select Conditions.

Variant level

Under the Preset & Naming tab of the production type. Click the ‘three-cube’ icon next to the variant.

How conditional rules work

Conditional rules decide when an item (production type, position, or variant) is active in a Style Guide. Once you click the "three cubes" icon, a settings box will pop up to configure these rules.

When the conditional rule is applied

You can set rules based on:

  • Source: Whether images are from Photo Production or Vendor Provided.

  • Property: Defined properties in your Studio Settings.

  • Production Rules (Position/Variant Level): Useful for extras like “Shop the Look” shots.

    • When to produce an outfit

    • When to not produce an outfit

Format Operators

Depending on the property type, you will see different operators. Values for setting up conditional rules are not case-sensitive.

  • Equal to / Not Equal to: Perfect for exact matches or exclusions.

  • Contains / Does Not Contain: Great for partial matches.

  • Empty or Not Empty: Detects if fields are blank or filled.

  • Before / After / Before or Equal to/ After or Equal to: Handles date or date time values.

Logical Operators

These allow you to combine multiple conditions. The Logical Operators include And - Or. We have an extensive article explaining the logic here.

Production example

Let’s say your On Model production type should activate when:

  • The source is Photo Production,
    and

  • The job name does not contain "X".

If these conditions aren’t met, On Model automatically disables. Easy peasy!

Be sure to test your setup on a few products to confirm everything works as expected. If you need a hand, our Support team is always here to help!
