As AI becomes central to modern content production, so does the responsibility to track how it is used. Creative Force is introducing a set of new capabilities to help studios stay ahead of emerging regulations and internal governance requirements, ensuring that AI actions taken on assets are captured, stored, and accessible wherever needed.
Article Overview
The use of AI in content production is increasingly subject to legal requirements. Two pieces of legislation are directly relevant to Creative Force customers– as such, this article provides a high-level overview of what's changing, why it matters, and what you can expect.
Legislation | Link | Description |
EU AI Act: Article 50 | The European Union's AI Act includes requirements under Article 50 that mandate assets generated or edited using AI must carry machine-readable data describing those AI actions. | |
New York Synthetic Performer Act | This US legislation requires advertisers to label content that features synthetic talent. For example, AI-generated virtual models. Studios producing content with virtual model AI tools may be subject to this requirement. |
Beyond these specific pieces of legislation, Creative Force also recognises that the regulatory environment is evolving rapidly. The solutions being implemented are designed to position studios well for future legal and corporate requirements, not just the ones in effect today.
Creative Force Solutions
Creative Force's response is a two-part approach that addresses both the technical standard required for regulatory compliance and the broader need for AI data to be useful within and beyond the platform.
C2PA Manifests
(Coming Soon)
Creative Force is implementing support for the C2PA Standard (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity), the emerging industry standard for embedding verifiable provenance data directly on digital assets.
A C2PA manifest is a credential embedded in an asset file that records key information about the AI actions taken on that asset, including:
Embedded Data | Description |
Action Type | Whether the asset was generated or edited by AI. |
Software Agent | The name of the tool or service responsible. |
AI Model | The specific model used, when known. |
Creative Force Manifest Management
From the perspective of Creative Force, we intend to support a bi-directional approach to interacting with C2PA Manifests. This means Creative Force will preserve and manage C2PA manifests wherever possible as assets move through the production process:
If an asset arrives with an existing C2PA manifest, Creative Force retains it and may add to it.
If an asset has been processed by an AI Connector or native solution and has no manifest, Creative Force will create one.
When an asset leaves Creative Force, any manifest data from the above steps is preserved and sent along with it.
AI Action Data Storage
(Coming Soon)
In addition to C2PA manifests stored on the asset file itself, Creative Force is building a broader AI action tracking layer that stores details of AI actions in the platform database. This makes AI data easily accessible and actionable in ways that a file-embedded manifest alone cannot support.
Creative Forces' approach to this solution comes in two parts: metadata and visualization tools.
Visibility in CF
This will enable deeper layers of visibility within Creative Force, such as:
Enabled Action | Description |
Action History | View AI action history for individual assets. |
Filtering | Filter by AI usage in the Asset Hub. |
Reporting | Track AI asset volume through reporting. |
AI action tracking will extend beyond native Creative Force tools to include data from third-party integrations, ensuring a consistent record regardless of which AI service was used.
Downstream Metadata
Add AI action data to assets as Metadata, making it consumable by downstream platforms (e.g., DAMs, PDPs, retail partner systems).
Supports customers who need to label AI-generated content on their product pages, partner feeds, or advertising channels.
Looking Ahead
More detailed articles covering each of these capabilities will be published as features become available. This article will be updated with links to those resources as they are released.
